Dental Bridges
Replace missing teeth

What are Dental Bridges?
A dental bridge is a custom-made dental appliance designed to replace one or more missing teeth. It literally “bridges” the gap created by missing teeth, restoring your ability to chew and speak properly and maintaining the shape of your face. It is anchored in place by the natural teeth or implants on either side of the gap.
Types of Bridges
- Traditional Bridge: This involves creating a crown for the tooth or implant on either side of the missing tooth, with a pontic (false tooth) in between.
- Cantilever Bridge: Used when there are adjacent teeth on only one side of the missing tooth or teeth.
- Maryland Bridge: Uses a metal or porcelain framework bonded to the back of existing teeth.
- Implant-Supported Bridge: An ideal solution when more than one tooth is missing, using dental implants for support.
Benefits of a Bridge
- Restored Functionality: Be able to eat your favourite foods again with ease.
- Enhanced Aesthetics: Restore teeth to the place you have a gap.
- Maintained Facial Structure: Prevent the shifting of remaining teeth and maintain your facial shape.
- Long-Lasting Solution: With proper care, dental bridges can be a durable and long-lasting solution.
The Dental Bridge Procedure
The process of getting a bridge typically involves two visits:
- Consultation and Examination: During your initial visit, our dentist will examine your oral health, discuss your needs, and determine if a bridge is the right solution for you.
- Preparation: The adjacent teeth are prepared by removing a portion of enamel to allow for crown placement.
- Impression and Design: An impression of your teeth is taken to design a custom-fitted dental bridge.
- Placement: Once the dental bridge is ready it is carefully placed and adjusted to ensure a comfortable fit.
- Final Checks and Care Instructions: Our dentist will provide you with guidance on how to care for your new bridge to ensure its longevity.
